Tennant Lake

Our first month of our family goal to explore a new trail once a month was at Tennant Lake in Ferndale, WA. At first we were a little thrown off because the first two trail heads were closed. We decided to take our time walking through the fragrance garden (which wasn't all that fragrant because it's winter) and go to the top of the viewing tower. Harper loved climbing all the stairs to the top and the views of Mount Baker were breathtaking!

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the dessert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of you body love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, your, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
Are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
call to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting—
over and over announcing your place
in the the family of things.
